Hello fellow Sno-mads,
It is early Saturday morning May 30th, and the weather is just slightly above freezing. Although there was a frost advisory for Nopiming Park last night it does not appear that the gardens and flower pots were adversely affected by the colder temperature. It certainly feels more like snowmobile weather right now than boating or fishing weather.
The Nopiming Sno-mads executive have some great news to share with our members, so I wanted to get this email out as early as possible. Yesterday, we were informed that our grant proposal for the groomer shed was successful and that we will receive a $65,000 grant from Manitoba Sustainable Development towards the cost of the project. YAHOO!
Additionally, we have the final results from the membership vote on whether or not to move forward with the groomer shed project. We received 37 membership votes in favor of moving forward with the groomer shed, and no votes against the proposed project. Therefore in compliance with the Nopiming Sno-mads constitution, we have surpassed the 60% requirement of the membership votes received to move forward with the groomer shed project.
In regards to the groomer shed project, we continue to work towards finalizing the building plans and obtaining all the necessary approvals to move forward. We have also begun to do some additional grading and levelling of the groomer shed site in preparation for the new building. More information will be forthcoming on exactly when we can start pouring the foundation and building construction. Anyone that has construction experience and would love to help out, please text or call Rene Ritchot at 204-510-1888. We will also be looking for general labor volunteers to help those with more experience, so we will again be working most Fridays and Saturdays once the project starts sometime later this summer subject to social distancing requirements. Stay tuned for more information on the groomer shed project.
