Club Update and Request for Volunteers March 20, 2022

Hello Sno-mads members

Let me start off by saying what an awesome riding season we have had this year, but all good things must come to an end. With all the warm weather we have had this week we will be closing our trails on Monday, March 21. A big thank you to all the volunteers that made this year one of the best riding seasons ever. There is an urgent need to remove signs and lake pegs in the coming days so please contact Rene Ritchot at 204-510-1888 if you can help out!

If you can believe it, we have already started a trail improvement project for the upcoming snowmobile season. We have created a new section on trail 230 that is about 200 meters long and designed to go above the creek that is about 1 kilometer from the north side of Bird Lake. For those of you that ride trail 230 (Moose trail) you know that there is a relatively new beaver dam that popped up several years ago. We have decided to bypass the beaver dam altogether to avoid the many stumps and bad ice near the dam.

A by product of the new detour is that we now have a lot of wood to heat our warm-up shelters for next season. Anyone interested in helping to cut and split wood for our warm-up shelters please contact Rene Ritchot at 204-510-1888.

Don’t forget that we have the groomer shed open house on Saturday March 26th. Please come join us for a hot dog, hamburger, soft drink, coffee, and cookies.
