Club Update for December 16, 2020
With the groomer shed activities progressing and in the final stages, we will start to transition the weekly update more towards trail conditions.
This week we were able to directional drill and install a 4” pipe from the east end of the building to the drainage pit. A concrete pit was poured and is ready to be lowered into place at the east end of the building, where it will house the newly acquired oil interceptor. The oil interceptor must be fully operational before we can put the groomers in the shed after grooming.
In addition, we continue to work on dry walling the mezzanine portion of the building, which should be done in the next couple of weeks. There are a few other smaller items left to be completed, but they can be done any time after the holidays if necessary.
The ice continues to form and we have gotten some snow in recent days, but the ice is nowhere safe enough to begin grooming and so our trails remain closed. We require 16” of clear ice everywhere on our trails before we can start grooming and that means that we are still weeks away from opening the trails. Our normal timeframe for opening the trails is the 2nd week in January, so let’s hope that ice conditions continue to improve. We recognize that this won’t stop some individuals from starting to ride the lakes and trail system before our trails are officially open, so please understand the risks and take the necessary precautions to keep yourself and others safe. We received information from the Lee River Snow Riders that 3 sleds broke through the ice over the weekend. Luckily, all 3 riders made it out OK.
Some of you may have noticed on our website that there is an important survey letter from Snoman. We encourage all of our club members and their families to respond to the survey. It is your opportunity to help shape the future of snowmobile trails in Manitoba.
We would like to encourage all members selling Snoman raffle tickets to get any remaining tickets sold and the money returned to Larry and Leta Lee at firstname.lastname@example.org or 204-884-2169.
