Groomer Shed Update for September 7, 2020
Just when we thought that things couldn't get any better in terms of volunteer support and building progress, we went and outdid ourselves this past Saturday. Once again we had 12 volunteers show up Saturday morning to help sheath the south wall and complete the challenging task of installing the metal roof. We had the perfect morning with mild temperatures and very little wind to blow around the 25' 4 " foot long metal sheets. It took us a little longer than we would have liked working until 2:00 PM, but everyone was eager to finish the job given the ideal weather conditions. There was no quitting with this group once we realized we could finish the job with an extra hour of work. We would also like to acknowledge Interlake Electrical for donating their time to install our electrical system.
It is worth mentioning that the club executive is very thankful for the tremendous volunteer support that we have received so far. Without this high level of support, the groomer shed project would not be possible. We have had 27 different volunteers show up over the summer to help us out, which is a testament to our club's passion. We recognize that there are a lot of club members that would like to volunteer, but have commitments that make it difficult to come out on a Saturday morning. For those of you unable to make it out on Saturday morning, we appreciate any level of support you can show us, such as thanking a volunteer. For those members that have not yet volunteered, but can somehow free up one Saturday morning, you are more than welcome to come out and join us. Just being able to say you helped build the groomer shed will give you a sense of pride and ownership that will last for many years to come.
We would also like to acknowledge Nopiming Lodge for graciously donating pizza on Saturday to feed a hungry bunch of volunteers. The lodge is very busy these days with Manitobans staycationing in the province, so taking the time to make pizzas for the group is especially appreciated.
The plan for next Saturday is to sheath the east and north walls with OSB to completely enclose the building. In addition, we would like to start sheathing the outside walls with sheet metal. We have the 4 large doors being installed the weekend of September 19th, so our timing is perfect. Once again, the plan is to start at 8:00 AM and work the morning.
We are still looking for a club member to coordinate the Snoman raffle tickets. Our club receives 50% of our ticket sales so this is a good fundraiser for us, and would be a good opportunity for anyone that would like to help the club, but has been unable to come out on Saturday mornings.
September is the time to renew your club membership or sign up as a new member of the Nopiming Snomads. It is as simple as clicking on the membership tab, choose either a one or three year membership, pick and complete a payment option. There are many benefits to joining the club including receiving club newsletters, participation in club rides and social events. Thank you for joining !
