Nopiming Sno-mads Newsletter for March 18, 2024

Hello Fellow Sno-mads,

It's been quite the snowmobile season to say the least. Unfortunately with the warm weather and the lack of snow we were unable to officially open our beautiful trails this year. With that said, as of yesterday we have pulled all the trail signs and the lake pegs. If you plan on continuing to ride the trails, please be safe as they are no longer marked. We would like to thank our volunteers who helped in getting the trails ready, signed and maintained in anticipation of a meaningful snowfall that would have allowed us to open our trail system.

 On the positive side our club is more than just snowmobiling, we are a small community and have hosted a few fun events at the groomer shed with some good turnouts. 

On January 20th we hosted the Mexican Fiesta where we had 50 plus people attend. Delicious tacos were served with all the fixings, some Mexican street corn, plus taco chips and salsa. The kids had fun with the piñata and scored quite a bit of candy. Fun was had by all young and old.

On February 3rd we had our Famous Bird Burger day and sold 90 meals. What a great turnout seeing that the trails were closed so people actually drove in not to miss out on these amazing burgers. Many thanks to the Nopiming Lodge for supporting this great annual event.

Unfortunately, our annual Poker Derby which was originally scheduled for February 10th was rescheduled to February 24th hoping that we would get some snow.  Well, the extra time did not help and we were forced to cancel this event due to lack of snow.

On March 2nd we had our Chili Extravaganza aka Western Hoedown Chili Cook-off. Another successful event with about 45 people attending. There were 5 different delicious chilis to choose from and you were able to vote for your favourite. One was even cooked over an open fire. This year's winner was Jason Neufeld (chili #2)...way to go Jason. We had a 50/50 draw which was won by Ingrid Enns and she kindly donated her winnings back to the club which was very much appreciated. 

We would like to thank all those that volunteered their time to make these events a success, the people that came out to support our club, and the generous donations. It is greatly appreciated.
